Overnight Hike - Marramarra National Park. Sat 17th - Sun 18th Sept

posted 29 Jul 2011, 00:03 by Epping Scouts   [ updated 11 Oct 2011, 05:51 ]
UPDATE: This hike has been postponed from 20th / 21st Aug until 17th / 18th Sept

This is a great hike for both Scouts who have never done an overnight hike into a remote area before and also for those who might already have. It's a fairly easy route to walk, with only a few steep sections. At the end of the first day's walk, we camp by a lagoon near a disused orange orchard, if the season is right there'll be fresh orange juice for breakfast!!

While there is a pit toilet and running water available, there are no shops or ice cream vans, so you'll have to be prepared to bring your own supplies, including:
  • All food and drinks. You will need to bring about 2ltrs of water. Bring food for 2 lunches, one dinner, one breakfast and some trail snacks.
  •  Fuel stoves for cooking - Scouts will arrange to borrow some from other groups
  • Hike Tents
  • Comfortable walking shoes or boots with support and warm clothing.
  • Compass, pocket note book, first aid kit, and all other equipment for overnight hiking.
  • All gear should be brought in a backpack - if you haven't got one, let me know
Start time on Saturday is 9:30am from Essex Street Hall.
