Term 3 - Welcome Back!!!

Term 3 is back -  spring is just around the corner and the weather can only get warmer from here, so lets get ourselves ready for a fun Summer season. This term, we're going to concentrate on getting through our badgework, we'll throw in some great adventure activities like abseiling caving and rockclimbing, culminating in an "Adventure Hike" at the end of the term where we will try and use some or all of these new found skills for real.

In the next few weeks, we have a couple of fun and useful activities planned such as a campfire and camp at North Epping Hall on Saturday 28th July followed the next day by joining in a "National Tree Day" activity on Sunday 29th July at Epping Oval. This will be a great opportunity for Scouts to contribute to the environment (and earn some badges along the way!!!). Another very exciting event we plan to join in on this term is the annual Northern Beaches "Escape and Evade" hike - I don't believe Epping has participated in this before but it promises to be a fun event.

But of course, the highlight of Term 3 will be our (from now on to be) annual Father's Day Shooting Contest to be held at the Hornsby Rifle Range - Dads, mark the date (Thursday 30th Aug) in your diaries and start practising NOW!!!

Looking further into Term 4 and beyond, there are a number of fun activities planned for October and November that you should start thinking about and indicating your interest, these include:

19th – 21st Oct: Port Neptune Regatta

20th – 21st Oct: JOTA / JOTI

20th Oct: Granny Smith Parade

3rd – 4th Nov: Ventout

As usual - there will be a sheet posted on the Essex Street noticeboard with these activities for you to indicate if you're interested. Please take the time to fill this in as it really, really helps the Leaders plan the activities.

Finally - AJ2013 is coming up fast for those going. There will be additional activities and preparations happening very soon. You will be kept informed as more information becomes available.
