Sun 9th Sept: Scout Abseil Day

posted 9 Aug 2012, 00:27 by Epping Scouts   [ updated 9 Aug 2012, 00:27 ]
Abseiling is defined in Wikipedia as "the controlled descent down a rock face using a rope" or in other words, how to fall down a rock in an exciting way without hurting yourself.

Scout Abseil day is an opportunity for you to experience this great activity under the direction of qualified Scout Activity Leaders. You may also use this opportunity to gain your Abseil Proficiency badge, see the attached document "Abseiling Scout Competencies" to find out what you have to learn and do in order to attain this.

The activity will be conducted by members of the Regional Rockcraft Activiuty team and will be held on Sunday 9th September, 2:00pm - 4:00pm at "Lindfield Rocks" - see the attached forms for more details. It'll cost $10 - which covers "wear and tear" on all the abseiling equipment and leaders.

This is an awesome and useful skill that we'll try to use "in the wild" during our adventure hike at the end of term - so come along. Please complete the attached A1 form and had that, together with the $10 fee to Shaggy by Wd 29th August
