The 1st of September is officially the first day of Spring!!! Time to dig out the backpack, clean you messkit, find your hiking shoes and head outdoors... This hike is designed as an easy introduction to newer Scouts or Scouts who may not have experienced the challenge and fun of hiking into a remote area, discovering new things about the environment and about their own capability. It's also a great warm-up for more experienced hikers for the rest of the hiking season. Parents are also welcome. It'll be run like a Scout "Cord" hike so is great for both parents and Scouts to learn how to prepare for and participate in a Red, Blue or Green Cord hike.
We'll be hiking the Mararmarra National Park, starting at the carpark along Smugller's Ridge down to the Marramarra Creek lagoon. We'll explore the area, go for a dip in the prestine rock pools, check out the Orange Orchard for any early fruit. The next day, we'll hike out along the same route.
Attached is the A1 permission note, map of the hike and how to get there. Please inform Shaggy by Wed 15th Aug if you are coming so that we can plan the menu and transportation.
