Family Shakedown Hike

What is it?
An overnight training hike for Scouts intending to attend Scouthike and their families
Provides Scouts and their parents with a taste of what a “Cord” hike is like
When is it?
1pm Saturday 6th April – 1pm Sunday 7th April
Where is it?
We start at Berowra station
hike about 5km to Crosslands via the Benowie walking track,
Camp overnight at Crosslands
Then hike back up to Mt Kuring-Gai station
How do we get there?
Train from Epping to Berowra Station
Train from Mt. Kuring-gai to Epping and home…
Who can go?
The hike is of Easywith some steep (but manageable) grades and is suitable for all Scouts and their (moderately fit) Parents.
What do I need to bring?
Hiking gear (pack, sleeping bag, etc)
Tent (you can borrow one from Scouts if needed)
Snacks, dinner and Breakfast
How much will it cost?
$20 per participant will cover all food and camping costs at Crosslands
- On top of that, bring enough to cover your train fare
