Participation in this event will qualify Joeys for the "Their Service, Our Heritage Badge".
Date: Sunday, 14 August, 2011 Time: 1:45pm Where: Meet in Rawson St., outside the Epping RSL Dress: FULL uniform is to be worn by all invested members. There will be a 20 minute Service upstairs in the Grand Ballroom for a 20 minute service. After this, everyone will form up outside and march up Rawson Street, turn right at the roundabout into Bridge Street then right again into Victoria Street. The march is led by the Golden Kangaroos Marching Band. There will be a wreath laying ceremony at the Cenotaph where all participants can also lay the poppies given to them earlier at the service. Everyone will then march back to the RSL where afternoon tea is provided by the RSL. Parents can pick up their children from the Ballroom from around 3:30 onwards. Traffic in the streets is stopped by the police to ensure the safety of those marching. Parents are welcome to attend the service and the wreath laying ceremony and also follow alongside the march. They can also join in with the afternoon tea. Due to the age (both young and quite old) of some of those marching, consideration is always given to the weather. If rain is imminent, the outdoor component of the activity might be held indoors instead.

To celebrate Mother's Day, Joeys and their mums are invited to visit the Eastwood Fire Station to meet some hunky firefighters. We will meet at the station at 2:30pm and adjourn after to one of the local cafes for afternoon tea. Places are limited as the station can only accommodate a maximum of 20 people. Therefore, Joeys and mums only. No siblings, unfortunately. First come first served so RSVP your attendance asap. A1s are due by Wednesday 4 May. Attendance will count towards earning an adventure badge. |
