Epping Cubs is running a 2nd Astronomy Night this year. Weather permitting, some different celestial objects should be seen including Saturn and its rings. The same organizational arrangements apply as for last March.
If raining or threatening rain, the night's Cub activities will be held in the normal hall at North Epping. Otherwise, meet at Albuera Rd, even if cloudy. Ring Baloo if in doubt or call at the hall on the way. Walk down the driveway and meet at the back of the house.
Wear uniform with suitable warm clothing for the evening & sturdy shoes.
Parents, guardians & parent/guardian accompanied siblings are welcome to join in and see some of the wonders of the sky! However, they must inform a Leader if, for some reason, they and their Cub are withdrawing from an organised activity.
Bring torch (optional).
During the evening, Cubs while awaiting their turn to look through the telescope will be doing activities under leader supervision in the nearby Forest Park and will walk via the footpath / footbridge between venues (also under supervision).
Unlike in March, the sky should be reasonably dark for the whole time. However, once again after the official close of the evening at 20:30, if the weather is suitable there may be an opportunity for more telescope viewing. However, this would ONLY be available for Cubs being supervised by their parent / guardian, for supervision and safety reasons. Remaining Cubs without supervising parents or guardians would NOT be allowed to participate in this extended activity.
