On 13th September, Shaggy from the Scout section is organising its biennial (every two years) Air Activities Day for Father's Day at Camden Air base. The Scout Association run aviation activities from this location using its own range of Cessna 172 4-seater aircraft. The pilots are all volunteer Scout members.
The activity day will include a scenic flight in one of the Scout Association's own Cessna 172 aircraft, a guided aerodrome walk including to areas normally off limits to the public and an interactive classroom session covering topics from the Cub Level 2 Flight badge and/or Scout Explorer or Pioneer Level Air Activities badge. Is there a badge for the Joeys? We might also have time to try the newly installed advanced PC flight simulators.
There is a grassed picnic area where we will be having a Sausage Sizzle BBQ lunch. Drinks and souvenirs can be bought from the Air base staff at reasonable prices.
This year we have been offered the use of a NSW State Transit bus to make travelling there and back so much easier. There will be an additional cost of $15 per person for the return ride. Meet at Essex St at 6:45am for a 7:00 departure. We plan on returning by 5:00 to 5:30 but this will be dependent on the traffic conditions.
The cost is:
$75 for Cubs. Their badgework required building a model plane.
$70 for others who are flying. This includes the flight, participation in the badge course (for youth members) and a BBQ lunch.
$10 if you are attending but not flying. This includes the BBQ lunch.
$15 extra per person for the return bus fare.
Siblings and Parents are also able to fly. However, numbers are limited and priority will be given to youth members.
